Restore or sync an App Store subscription
Restore purchases in the iOS app and understand when CalBudget checks App Store subscription access.
CalBudget can recognize an active App Store subscription after the iOS app syncs the purchase status to your account.
Restore purchases
Open the iOS app, go to Settings or the subscription screen, and choose Restore Purchases. This asks Apple for your current subscription status.
When to restore
- You installed CalBudget on a new device.
- You reinstalled the app.
- Your account still shows a paywall after an App Store purchase.
- You changed Apple IDs or subscription settings.
Website billing is separate
Website subscriptions are managed through Stripe. App Store subscriptions are managed by Apple. Use the billing method where you originally subscribed.
When restore purchases helps
Restore Purchases asks Apple for the current subscription state and lets CalBudget sync that access to your account. It is the right first step when a paid App Store subscription is not reflected in the app.
| Situation | Recommended action |
|---|---|
| New iPhone or iPad | Sign in, then restore purchases. |
| Reinstalled app | Restore purchases after sign-in. |
| Paywall after purchase | Restore purchases and wait for sync. |
| Canceled in Apple settings | Manage the subscription through Apple. |
Restore flow
- Open the iOS app.
- Sign in with the CalBudget account you want to use.
- Open Settings or the subscription screen.
- Tap Restore Purchases.
- Wait for the sync to finish.
- Return to the calendar and confirm access.
If restore does not fix access
Confirm that the Apple ID with the subscription is active on the device. If the subscription was bought on the website instead, manage it through Stripe billing in the web app, not through Apple.
Why there are two billing paths
Apple manages App Store subscriptions. Stripe manages website subscriptions. CalBudget reads the active status, but billing changes must be made in the system where the subscription was started.
Restore checklist
- The iOS device is using the Apple ID that purchased the subscription.
- You are signed in to the correct CalBudget account.
- Restore Purchases finishes without interruption.
- The calendar unlocks after sync.
- Apple subscription settings show the subscription as active.
If you still see the paywall
Close and reopen the app, then try restore again. If the purchase was made on the website, App Store restore will not activate it because that subscription is managed through Stripe.
